The finishers in Mortal Kombat X are more gruesome than ever. On some level that should be an obvious improvement, since this is the first game in the series to show up on this generation of hardware. But the developers have really gone the extra mile to make sure most of the fatalities go "too far" in new ways, from bodies getting ripped in half to faces being sliced off to reveal a tongue that sits there and twitches until you move forward to the next screen. The game also has brutalities, which are new--they aren't just the weird, sped-up dial-a-combo explosions that they were when they showed up in Mortal Kombat Trilogy.Brutalities are a fun way to style on your opponent because you do them during a fight's conclusion instead of waiting for it to shout "finish him" at you. Some of these are easy. For example, if you continue holding forward while ending your winning round with Erron Black's throw, he'll pull out his six-gun and shoot his victim's leg clean off. If you mash some buttons while winning a fight with Takeda's throw he'll rip off his opponent's arm at the end of it. Most of the brutalities are expanded, murderous takes on a character's special moves, so each character has around five brutalities. Many of them have more elaborate requirements, like not getting hit for seven seconds during a match or doing 30% of your damage with one move. Those requirements remind me of the way you'd need to hold down a button for 30 seconds to get Shang Tsung to morph into Kintaro for a fatality--you need to set up how, exactly, you're going to win before you've actually won. In some cases, that makes them risky and, when you pull them off, kind of impressive. They're also a lot faster than the standard fatalities. Faction Kills are also faster than the fatalities, and these tie into an overarching metagame where you pick one of five different factions and all your fights, online or off, deliver points into an overall pool. Once a week, the points are tallied and the winner gets access to a specific faction kill. It's a nice distraction that helps give all of your efforts a little more meaning, even if you're just playing through the story or grinding it out against the AI on one of the many different towers.Along with the simplified and tweaked spectator mode, minor visuals changes were included too. You can find the full update log right below.ike a drunken uncle, CS:GO is going to be offensive this Christmas. It'll be making lewd jokes, swearing incoherently, and... oh, the other kind of offensive? I guess that makes sense. In that case, the Winter Offensive update will bring a new case of weapons skins, a new e-sports crowd-funding case, and - in a limited format - two new maps. All in all, it's not very wintry. The H170 chipset is a lesser form of the Z170, with a greater focus on SMB (small business) and biz-client sales. H170 limits some BIOS overclocking options, but is available for cheaper than its Z170 variant.Starting off with the middle ground, you can see that some of the European and American Counter-Strike: Global Offensive teams are getting paid around $3,000 USD per month as a salary in order to play video games. Doing the math, $36,000 per annum doesn't exactly sound like a big deal, but let's break it down further. The weapons transform – so one weapon will have various uses and strategies that you can implement. You can also customise your weapon with Blood Gems. There are different types and you can slot in up to three at a time. One gem might have you use less stamina per swing, for example. Every Monday, Evan writes about first-person shooters in Shooterology.Weapon skins, however, seemed like a great idea -- players could see their weapons, other players could see them, and skins were easy enough to make in bulk. That's when the team began looking at real-world guns, and how people customized those. But here was the thing -- Valve though that cool camouflage and military skins would be the way forward, but after launching these on the marketplace, they weren't gaining as much traffic as more bright and colorful weapons. All of this data was revealed in a recent CD Projekt Red financial brief led by CEO Adam Kicinski. The Witcher 2 cost the company just $10.3 million – small change for a large video game – but we've now learned that The Witcher 3 had a total cost of $81 million. For perspective, GTA V cost $265 million, Star Citizen is in the range of $90 million, and Destiny cost upwards of $500 million (including marketing).

Alex hopes that the game can find an audience among the ESL viewers. "We see the younger generation falling in love with the simple ruleset of the game and appreciating its depth," he says, "while the people of my generation—around 30, now with responsibilities and all that—appreciate how easy it is to enjoy SpeedRunners without investing too many hours in it."Developer DoubleDutch hadn't originally created the game with intentions of becoming an esport. "We quickly realized it had the makings of one," says Nichiporchik, "and confirmed our suspicions every time we hosted a local tournament at a convention. We decided to go fully in that direction after introducing a Ranked system where players could level up and compete for placement in ladders."Last August, eSports journalist Richard Lewis published an article that implicated top North American Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team iBUYPOWER in a match-fixing scandal. Match fixing is nothing new to the eSports community, having already been a major point of controversy in the Starcraft II professional scene.Other games not released this year that top the list include Left 4 Dead 2, Garry's Mod, Terraria, The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, and Borderlands 2. ARK: Survival Evolved and Rocket League became out-of-nowhere sensations, selling about 2 million copies a piece. That's especially notable for ARK as it's still an "Early Access" title, with the final release scheduled for next summer. On July 9th, Montreal is hosting the ESWC Counter-Strike: GO World Finals, and OPSkins will be the main sponsor, investing $100,000 in the event. “It’s huge for our city,” said Minacov."While it typically takes more time to generate enough data to drive an update (and gameplay updates are always a bit disruptive), in this case it’s clear that we got the damage wrong and can respond immediately," the CS:GO blog reads.

According to the data, your chances of getting anything other than Mil-Spec items are remarkably low. In-fact, you'll only receive an item of Restricted (purple) rarity or better in one out of every five to six case openings. Of those five to six case openings, the one where you do get lucky is much more likely to provide you with a Restricted item than anything else, as Classified items have roughly a 3.2% drop rate, and Covert sits at around 0.64%.The claims come from the Global Offensive community on Reddit, where estimates put the number of banned cheaters at around 1,600 - and that's a conservative guess. That's a lot of banhammers dropping through the Valve Anti-Cheat System.

Keys end up being cheaper via Reddit or other non-official marketplaces simply due to the fact that real money is exchanged instead of seeing cash added to your Steam Wallet. Its commonplace to see them willing to take a hit on the price for added liquidity, proving that cash is indeed king. For this PC build, we’ve chosen the price point of $1500 as it allows for the inclusion of a high-end GPU, CPU, and SSD without costing an arm, leg, and kidney. Then again, no one needs two kidneys when they have a high-end gaming PC, and arms are of negligible value as VR iterates.I wanted to cheat in CS:GO. I was good, once, when I had a high school student's endless free time to pour into Counter-Strike 1.3. These days, if I can play with friends, it's fun. If I jump onto a random server I'm cannon fodder. The usual array of pretty stuff is thrown in too: the Wildfire Case contains 16 community weapon skins and a Bowie knife. It's not a common occurrence that Valve takes action against mods to its games, but that's exactly what's happening with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. In fact, they're basically whipping out the ban hammer for folks who create servers that allow players to use custom skins for their various weapons. That’s another important point about DirectX 12: the benefits it confers, it confers on developers. And the nature of game development, as Gaslamp Games’ programmer Nicholas Vining pointed out, is "as soon as you get a game running at 60 FPS, your designers and artists will immediately knock it back down to 30 FPS."Valve is known for taking its time on projects. The “Steam Machine” was announced a couple of years ago as a joint hardware-software PC solution for living room set-top gaming with, perhaps more interestingly, promised inclusion of a haptic-enabled Steam controller. This controller would be the cause of many delays in the pipeline as Valve faced design unique design and usability challenges."We can confirm, by investigating the historical activity of relevant accounts, that a substantial number of high valued items won from that match by Duc 'cud' Pham were transferred (via Derek 'dboorn' Boorn) to iBUYPOWER players and NetCodeGuides founder, Casey Foster," Valve wrote on the CS:GO blog. "All together, the information we have collected and received makes us uncomfortable continuing any involvement with these individuals."Seven players will be excluded from "participation in any capacity in Valve-sponsored events," according to the post:

One of the biggest is the inclusion of a brand new progression and reward system, which fans of games such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, PAYDAY 2 and many, many others will find all too familiar.CS: GO wouldn't experience a very successful launch. Priced at $14.99 it sold more than a million units within one week, but wasn't able to retain a high activity average among its playerbase. Within a couple months most players would transition to Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Halo 4, or even return to CS 1.6 or Battlefield 3 for their shooter fix, resulting in a sub-50,000 concurrent player count for what Valve hoped would be its premier FPS for the next decade.Since it’s a potentially divisive addition, there’s a detailed FAQ in the blog post, but here are the broad strokes:Only a few items are available at the moment, including some T-shirts, jeans and jackets, and you’ll get them just by playing the game. A “moderate player” should expect to get most of them within a month. The ESL is hosting what it says will be the largest Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament in the world this summer, in the biggest indoor arena in Germany. It also promised that 2015 will see more CS:GO action than any previous year in the ESL's history.

The most obvious of my new superhuman abilities was spying on other players through walls. In CS:GO, wallhacking is incredibly useful. Faceoffs around corners come down to millisecond reactions. My ability to see exactly when the enemy was coming, or to know exactly where he was hiding when I was coming, was unfair to say the least. It was also super fun. Maybe the most fun I've had with Counter-Strike in years. I was finally getting kills, more than one in a round, but I wasn't crushing everyone else. It was like a little boost that got me back into my high school fighting shape.
